Our philosophy... when it comes to breeding... we look for great individuals, but we look for GREAT INDIVIDUALS WITH THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE. Although, I have not been able to find every picture of every horse in his pedigree. If you open the thumbnail, you will see each of these horses accomplishments. You will see their production records have out weighed even their tremendous titles. If you have any other photos that would fit into this area, we would sure welcome them! This area represents several well thought out breeding programs and brought to one place. Thanks for looking!

Our breeding philosophy~breed the best to the best. We include title holders in our breeding, but more important PRODUCERS! All of our foals are for sale. We breed our mares with the expectation each foal would be the kind we would keep in our breeding program or be the quality to show at a World and National Level. We believe that if you get a foal from Smith Show Horses there will be fewer surprises and higher expectations.
We take this commitment seriously!
If you have ANY questions, please feel free to call or email us.

An Awesome Secret, 2003 ApHC
Photo Taken October 2011

An Awesome Secret is a 2003, 15.3 hh, dark bay stallion. He is HYPP n/n. He is not only a great individual, but he also has World and National producing bloodlines to back him up in the breeding pen. His genetic package includes a huge dose of pretty as well as strong Appaloosa breeding. His pedigree is made up of multiple World and National Champions, but more important…his pedigree is made up of World and National Champion sires and producers.
An Awesome Secret is by The Secret, ApHC, who is syndicated and does not stand to outside mares. The Secret is a leading sire of halter horses and has multiple World and National Champions. An Awesome Secret is one of only a few breeding sons of The Secret currently available. The Secret, himself, is by the Hall of Fame stallion, Dreamfinder. He is out of Kendalite N Roses, ApHC, who holds13 World and National titles and produced a full sister to The Secret that went on to win a World and National title in halter.
An Awesome Secret is out of Shes Pretty Fancy, ApHC. This mare is by Go To Impress and carries the strength on the maternal side to contribute production consistency. Shes Pretty Fancy was raised by Bob Kletschka and she is a full sister to leading halter sire Awe Striker. Her sire Go To Impress, was Reserve World Champion and National Champion as a 2 year old, National Champion as a 3 year old, and came back as a 9 year old and stood National Grand Champion Stallion. Shes Pretty Fancy’s mother is Kelos Tru DeeLite. The first mare to stand Grand Champion Mare as a yearling—a feat she accomplished at the 1990 National Show and since then only a handful have accomplished this. This combination has produced that pretty dished face and large eye over and over again. She is a full sister to Awe Striker.
Additional bloodlines in the first three generations of An An Awesome Secret include: Alias King, ApHC; Aztec Fanci Frani, AQHA; Kendalls Reward, ApHC; Classical Rose, AQHA by Do Do Chick; Goer, ApHC; Revenues First, AQHA; Kelo Connection, ApHC; Sonny Sun De Love, AQHA, mare by Sonny Dee Bar.
An Awesome Secret is bred to be balanced and he will cross on your halter mare or rider. Beginning in 2009, any foal produced with 23 registered Appaloosas in the first 4 generations will qualify for Foundation Pedigree Designation (FPD). An Awesome Secret can contribute 11 outstanding Appaloosa title holders, as well as, World and National Champion producers! No surprises here. The horses in his pedigree have established a track record in production, which, as a breeding animal, is more important as titles they hold.

An Awesome Secret's first foals arrived in 2006. Of the three born, A Secret Romance was a halter futurity winner, and A Secret Melody made her debut at the end of July 2007. A Secret Melody stood Grand Champion Mare as a yearling. Her owner, Chuckie Heim, a non-pro, at that time, had just returned to the ApHC after several years absent from showing. The pair stood sixth at the 2007 World Championship OPEN Longe Line class. This was Chuckie's first World Show EVER! Chuckie purchased A Secret Melody as a performance prospect, because of her natural ability to carry her head level and remain naturally collected. She shares our philosophy that a correct and balanced halter horse adds to the final outcome.
Whether you are new to the Appaloosa breed or have been involved for many years, as we have, contact us. The Latest Update About Secret Melody ...
A Secret Melody is living in Pennsylvanians. She is owned by, Maureen Taylor, a friend we met through the horses. Maureen had purchased a foal from us by An Awesome Secret. After losing him to colic, when it was time, Maureen called and asked if we knew of any horses that were ready to ride by An Awesome Secret. There were a few out there, but the owner of A Secret Melody had just called and told us she was going to put their mare on the market while the kids were riding. She felt the mare should be used rather than stand in the pasture, as she had the past year.
Some say there are no coincidents. In this case, I believe there was a higher intervention. After Chuckie brought her to Fargo, we took some pictures and a video and Maureen made another to trip to Fargo.
Maureen contacted us through Facebook...
Been meaning to tell you & keep forgetting...when Tater (A Secret Melody) & I were on
our last trail ride of the year we met a fellow coming down the trail the opposite way. I
saw him really eyeing her up as we chatted about the weather, the nice trails, the beautiful
fall leaves, etc. Finally, he said, "You wouldn't happen to have another like her at home
that you're willing to sell, would you?" I explained that she was the one and only and that
she was a keeper.
"Have any idea where I could get one?"
"Sure do," I replied. "My friends in North Dakota stand her Daddy & ALL of their babies are this nice."
"So you drove all the way to North Dakota for her?" I shook my head 'yes' and before
I could open my mouth to say any more, he said, "Well, ma'am...she SURE was worth the drive."
Here she is
A Secret Melody is all grown up.
